What I know now.

I know..
-That not all cameras need batteries.
-They all need a lens and a shutter.
-When you take the film out it needs to be dark if not your picture will not turn out.

I don't know..
-Will we develop our own picutres?
-What camera takes the best pictures?
-Will we use just our camera?

For this class there will be no developing.

Really, the best pictures are about subject and how you choose to shoot that subject. The SLRs (Single Lens Reflex) cameras are "top of the line" for the non-professional (and what most professionals use. There are larger format cameras (bigger, with bigger film or CCD) that take high quality picture. Also, it depends on your purpose ... for James Bond, the tiny little camera watch is "best". We'll look some into different camera types.

You can use yours and (if they're better) have access to the class cameras. We do have one SLR.
